Scientists at Western University have indicated for the time that is first molecular mechanisms at the job that can cause cannabidiol , or CBD, to block the psychiatric side effects brought on by tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the key psychoactive chemical in cannabis.
It was previously shown that strains of cannabis with a high quantities of THC and lower levels of CBD may cause increased psychiatric results, including paranoia, anxiety, and addictive-behaviors, but why that has been occurring wasn’t completely comprehended.
Steven Laviolette, PhD, along with his research group utilized rats to research the part of the molecule when you look at the brain’s hippocampus called extracellular-signal regulated kinase (ERK) which triggers the neuropsychiatric results of THC.
